Face masks are a great way to show your skin some extra care, and address issues like breakouts, dryness, sunburn, and general concerns such as slowing the aging process.
Ideally, it is good to use a face mask at least once per week, and up to several times per week in your skin care routine.
Since it is hard for many people (myself included) to stay on a regular self-care schedule, anytime you find the moment to indulge, I highly recommend a healing and moisturizing face mask like the one in this post.
Two of my most favorite natural skin care ingredients to use are raw honey and lavender essential oil, the most soothing ingredients in this DIY face mask, which also incorporates unrefined virgin coconut oil. All three of these natural ingredients offer amazing benefits for your skin.
The main benefits of this face mask include:
Sunburn healing and soothing
Wound healing and soothing
Anti-aging
Moisturizing
Antibacterial to combat breakouts
What is better than an easy to make DIY face mask that is anti-aging, soothing, healing and all-natural?
See the recipe below followed by more information on the skin soothing ingredients.

Benefits of Mask Ingredients
Raw honey is antibacterial, contains powerful antioxidants to fight aging, is anti-inflammatory and promotes faster wound healing, as well as burn healing (including sunburn). It is also incredibly moisturizing and skin softening. If you are experience breakouts, I would recommend using Manuka or Neem honey in your mask as both are antibacterial (Manuka honey is recognized as the most antimicrobial type of honey) helpful in fighting acne. Honey’s wound healing properties will also speed the healing of any picked acne. I love the way it leaves the skin feeling so soft and supple when used in this mask.
Lavender Essential Oil is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to help restore skin complexion, reduce acne, improve eczema and psoriasis, as well as slow the aging process. It is also well known for reducing anxiety and emotional stress, so it’s very calming to smell while enjoying this face mask. Its antibacterial activity aids the honey in fighting blemishes. It has been also shown to quicken wound healing, so works well in combination with the honey to heal sunburn, picked acne, and otherwise damaged skin.
Unrefined virgin coconut oil is a great carrier oil for essential oils (which are not water soluble so must be diluted in oil). It contains Capric, Caprylic and Lauric acid as well as Vitamin E and has been shown to treat a variety of skin issues with its moisturizing, smoothing, anti-aging, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
All of these ingredients have other great uses as well, so perfect to have on hand for an easy soothing face mask. Enjoy!
